Speaker and 2018 Jim Davis Award Winner: Mike Burke ,CEO at Michael Burke, LLC

Michael Burke is owner of Michael Burke, LLC law firm in Kansas City. He is a life long Kansas City resident. He received his undergraduate degree in History from Georgetown University and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center where he was Research Editor for Law and Policy in International Business. 

Mr. Burke recently served as Chair of the Mayor's Task Force for the Arts which drafted "KCMO Arts Convergence--Becoming a 21st Century Cultural Center" This is the City's first strategic plan for the arts. The report led to the creation of the Office of Cultural and Creative Services as well as the Kansas City Film Office. Mr. Burke currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Arts Council.
Mr. Burke is active in the rapidly developing Kansas City technology community. He was appointed by Mayor James to chair the Mayors Bistate Innovation Team. Mr. Burke chaired the Launch KC initiative, a program of the Economic Development Corporation and the Downtown Council to assist small and medium size tech companies. He is a member of the advisory committee to KC Digital Drive and the Digital Sandbox, a proof of concept center started with the leadership of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Government Technology Magazine named Mr. Burke as one of the Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers for 2014.

Mr. Burke has also served in a variety of capacities on behalf of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, including: First District City Councilman, Chair of the Public Improvements Advisory Committee, Chair of Kansas City Riverfest, Chair of the All America City Committee, Chair of the Kansas City Port Authority and Board of Directors of the Convention and Visitors Association.
