The Downtowners is an informal association of Kansas Citians who live, work and/or play in downtown Kansas City. As a membership, we are dedicated to downtown development and promoting positive community spirit to accomplish this goal. We have monthly luncheon programs with guest speakers that are involved in the downtown renaissance and who provide the group with updates on important developments in our urban core. We also hold after-work social events throughout the year at different downtown locations to promote venues that make our downtown unique. Recent speakers include public officials such as Mayor Kay Barnes, City Manager Wayne Cauthen, and the outgoing head of the Heartland GSA, Bradley Scott., as well as private developers active in the rejuvenation of our urban core.
