Q: I'm having trouble with your GooglePay system. Can you help me?
A: We understand. Here are the most common problems:
- The automated posting of your name to the Who's Coming list can take as long as 20 minutes to post, depending on sales activity at google, or lack of current information in your account.
- Your credit card information is out of date. Please review the credit card information you have stored in your Google account and be sure the expiration date is accurate.
- A few browser settings require you work the process backwards: Go to http://checkout.google.com; login to the system and access your account. Leaving that browser window open, open a second browser window and navigate to www.kcdowntowners.com and complete the process. When you get to the Google checkout page, it should already have your information and you may complete the checkout process.
- Please resist the temptation to click on the Pay Now multiple times - this makes a BIG messy mess! ;)

Q: How can I pre-pay for multiple people with one transaction on GooglePay?
A: Please follow these steps:
- Go to the Upcoming Event page and click Sign Up.
- Enter First Name, Last Name, and Company Name (optional) for the first guest.
- Click the Add to List button.
- Repeat steps 2-3 for each person.
- When all names have been added, review the Sign Up List for accuracy, and make any necessary adjustments.
- Click the Checkout button to proceed to GooglePay and follow their instructions to complete the secure payment transaction.
Q: $30 walk-up lunch charge? Ouch! Why can't I RSVP early and pay $18 at the door?
A: We operated by this method for several years, when our gatherings were much smaller. We ordered lunch for all who RSVP'd ahead of time. At every event, numerous people who previously committed to attend had very understandable unforseen changes to their schedule (or decided the day was too nice to be inside) and did not attend. Our attempts to invoice the no-shows was largely unsuccessful and very taxing on our all-volunteer Board Members. We lost money operating under those terms and decided the only way is to pre-pay.
Q: I HATE using my credit card online. Can I please RSVP early and pay $18 at the door?
A: We feel your pain, but no. To get the $18 lunch price, you need to pay online through GooglePay. Otherwise, please bring $30 per person in cash or check to pay at the door. Please do not mail $18 to a Board Member. We are not set up to handle mailed checks/cash.
Q: My plans changed and I can't make the event - what are my options?
A: Please send somebody else in your place. They can either mention they are coming in your place at the check in table, or, any day prior to day of the event, you can change the check-in name (and menu choice) by sending an email to: info@kcdowntowners.com. If you can't find a friend, co-worker or client to send, please check with your accountant and take a tax deduction for your lunch: we will immediately donate the lunch you purchased to The Ronald McDonald House!
Q: Why the NO REFUND policy?
A: Because our average event and luncheon gathering has grown to over 100 guests, we have automated many processes, so as not to overly burden our Board Members who all have other day jobs! Once a guest pays online, an order is automatically placed with our caterer. We don't have paid staff or volunteer manpower available to process online refunds and make the necessary calls/adjustments to the catering order.
Q: If I join your email list, will you share my address with anybody?
A: Absolutely not! Nobody (not even our Board Members) have access to your email address!
Q: Will you please forward information about my not-for-profit to your email list?
A: No. We commit to only sending information about KC Downtowners business, no more than once per week to our 850+ email addresses.
Q: I have an upcoming very cool downtown event. May I please pass out literature at your luncheon or social?
A: No. The best way to advertise your very cool event to our very cool Downtowners is to sponsor a luncheon and take 5 minutes to chat up your event. You are always welcome and encouraged to attend the networking portion of our luncheon and communicate to the folks you meet. But please DO NOT put business cards, literature, magazines or fliers on the tables, chairs, or at the check-in desk. That privilege is reserved for our luncheon sponsor.
Q: May I please collect petition signatures at your event?
A: No. You are welcome to request permission, but can only do so with the written authorization from our Board President. Please send the complete petition details to info@kcdowntowners.com at least one week prior to our event.
